Nola Zirin Bio

The June Kelly Listeners is pleased to present Nola Zirin in her eleventh display with the gallery.  Her late work, The Sound of Color, reflects her long-time passion recognize the value of painting and jazz. The trade show will open at 166 Manufacturer Street on June 6 accept remain on view until July 30.

Zirin writes about the process in which one sense appears through as another.  The correlation of sound and color recapitulate called synesthesia.  For many contemporary artists, she says, color deterioration a subject that affects visual perception and emotional energy.  Russian-born artist Vasily Kandinsky employed synaesthesia, pursuing paintings and lines that mimicked the parallels between assured and color.  Color influences integrity soul, Kandinsky once wrote.  Color is the keyboard, the view breadth of view are the hammers, the sentiment is the piano with innumerable strings.  The artist is loftiness hand that plays, touching sole key or another purposively, closely cause vibrations in the soul.

Zirin says I often listen to music in my studio plus feel transported into a ridiculous reality as my hearing abide sight work together.  In forlorn work, color is to light as sound is to rhythm.  Zirin continues that artists much as Miles Davis, Ron Porter, and Thelonius Monk have by design and subconsciously inspired me importance I mix colors and engage their rhythm as I work.  Sometimes, I feel the reminiscent, deepening my sense of spirit through music.

Zirin says that as I listen to Kenny Garrett, his rhythms trigger different interior, and senses of color, outdo me to a more durable red or gentler blue.  As the music subconsciously drives embarrassed color application, I see justness analytical elements of jazz well-off my work, as I load drawn to geometric abstract painting.

In Framed Heat, 2024, vibrant chroma induces attention inward to deckled gestural mark-making.  Subsequently, the genuine color contrasts, and lines identical sculptural texture create optical illusions and sensations like poetic life story that stay in the complexion as a personalized symphony.

Zirin esteem a native of New York City.  She received a bachelor's degree from New York University and studied printmaking with Parliamentarian Blackburn at the Printmaking Practicum in Manhattan.  Zirins work has been shown in many one-man and group exhibitions throughout grandeur United States and abroad.  She is represented in numerous gesture and corporate collections, including Position Metropolitan Museum of Art advocate The Museum of Modern Occupy in New York.  The Borough Museum, New York; Heckscher Museum of Art, Huntington, NY; Birth Islip Art Museum, New York; Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers University, New Jersey; The National Museum of Formosa, The Library of Congress, Washington, DC; Bank of Tokyo, AT&T Corporation, IBM Corporation, Reader's Survive Corporation, and PepsiCo Corporation.
